PURPOSE:To make it possible to age an electrode plate in a short time and to eliminate a drying process by filling a paste in an electrode plate basic body for the lead storage battery, storing it in a specific separation chamber, and regulating the relative humidity of the space around the electrode plate in the chamber at a specific value. CONSTITUTION:A paste made by kneading lead or a lead oxide in the water and a dilute sulfuric acid is filled in a basic plate for the lead storage battery, the electrode plate is stored in a separation chamber 1 which has the space capacity to make the relative humidity in the ambiance around the electrode plate 85 to 99% by the moisture evaporated and scattered from the paste filled in the electrode plate, a blower 4 to blow the air of 1 to 5 M<3>/min, and an exhaust port 5 to be able to regulate the exhaust capacity, and the relative humidity in the separation chamber is regulated at 80% or more by regulating the exhaust port within 10 hours after the electrode plate is stored.
