PURPOSE:To produce the titled roll having excellent dimensional accuracy in high productivity, by impregnating an inorganic colloid solution in a disk roll, drying and solidifying the solution and subjecting the treated disk roll to curve milling and surface polishing. CONSTITUTION:A ring-shaped plate 20 composed of silica-alumina fiber having a shot content of >=30%, an inorganic binder and an organic binder and having a bulk density of >=0.5g/cm<3> is joined to a metallic shaft 1 by press-fitting to obtain a disk roll 10. At least one kind of inorganic colloid solution selected from silica sol, alumina sol and zirconia sol and having a solid concentration of 3-45wt.% is impregnated into the disk roll 10 to a prescribed depth under reduced pressure of 0.5-300Torr, dried and hardened to form a layer 6 impregnated with inorganic colloid. The layer is milled in curved face and the surface is polished. The above steps are repeated once or more. |
