PURPOSE:To obtain a flame-retarding composition which evolves neither smoke nor noxious gas during burning and is excellent in both of flame retardancy and mechanical strengths, by adding suitable amounts of a plurality of nonhalogenated flame retardants to a polyolefin-based nonhalogenated composition. CONSTITUTION:A flame-retarding composition is prepared by adding 30-100pts. wt. at least one member (A) selected from among Al(OH)3, Ca(OH)2 and a hydrotalcite, at least one member (B) selected from among MgO, MgCO3 and Mg(OH)2 and 1-10pts.wt. at least one member (C) selected from among red phosphorus, a Ba compound, a Pb compound and a silicone oil of 300,000-2,000,000cSt in such amounts that the total of these components is below 125pts.wt. to 100pts.wt. nonhalogenated composition based on a polyolefin (e.g., low-density or high-density PE or ethylene/propylene copolymer). Because this composition contains no halogen, it smokes lowly during burning, does not evolve noxious gas such as hydrogen chloride and excels in both of flame retardancy and mechanical strengths such as tensile strength. |
