PURPOSE:To reproduce picture of high resolution by determining the density of each small picture element by making the MTF correction of density information on each picture element read at low picture element density, and then by determining the density of each divided picture element by constant interpolation processing which pays attention to the density relations between adjacent picture elements. CONSTITUTION:Input picture information of low picture element density by rough sampling is divided and MTF correcting circuit 1 corrects density information on read picture elements. Next, binary or multivalued interpolation circuits 3 and 4, which uses the constant algorithm paying attention to the distribution state of correlative density levels between aimed picture element X and adjacent circumferential picture elements A-H perform picture processing to determine the density levels of divided small picture elements and then outputs them from output circuit 5. Thus, pictures having high picture element density are reproduced with high resolution on the basis of picture element information read at low picture element density. |
