PURPOSE:To obtain a small size one way clutch whose axial thickness is thin and which works well by making a ball receiving outer ring and balls out of ceramics, and making a retainer independent of the ball receiving outer ring and rotating it. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of balls 2 are arranged in plural rows on the inside of a ball receiving outer ring 1 and these balls are retained at a retainer 3. The ceramics which can be used for the ball receiving outer ring 1 and balls 2 is that of alumina or of zirconia or of other optional one. For the retainer 3, engineering plastics is suitable. A ball space on the inside of the ball receiving outer ring 1 consists of a wide portion having the slightly larger radius of curvature than the radius of the ball 2 and a narrow portion having almost twice this radius of curvature, and it is so arranged that as it advances in the positive direction circumferentially, the distance to a rotary shaft narrows. |
