摘要 PURPOSE:To precisely find a range up to any position on a photographing plane by spacing a light projecting lens and a light receiving lens in the direction of the shorter side of the photographing plane, composing a light projecting element and a light receiving element as an integral unit, shifting said unit made up of the light projecting, receiving elements nearly perpendicular to the direction of a base line, thereby modifying a range finding position. CONSTITUTION:Together with the movement of a moving member 7, a light projecting LED 4 and the light receiving element 6 can move as an integral unit roughly perpendicular to the direction of the base line A. Since the direction in which a light spot on the light receiving element 5 is toward the base line A, the direction in which image disturbance caused by coma aberration affects range finding is on a line in parallel with the base line and that influence becomes minimal, compared with a method to modify the light emitting position of an LED. Therefore, even if the range finding position is changed, errors caused by the disturbance of images formed by the light projecting LED need not be corrected. Moreover, if the light projecting LED4 moves, that does not affect the position on the light receiving element 6 in the direction of the base line A if the same distance up to an object is given. The same circuit constitution as before can cope with a change in the range finding position.
