PURPOSE:To obtain a homogeneous and fine composite metal oxide powder by adding an org. polybasic acid and glycol to a specified aq. soln. contg. copper, a rare-earth metal, and an alkaline-earth metal, heating the soln. to obtain a precipitate, and calcining the precipitate. CONSTITUTION:The following aq. soln. is prepared, an org. polybasic acid is added to the soln., glycol having a higher b.p. than water is further added, and the soln. is heated to remove the contained acid, acid radical of the salt, and water. A pressure of at least 1,000kg/cm<2> is exerted on the remaining glycol composition, the obtained precipitate is calcined, and the desired composite metal oxide powder is obtained. The aq. soln. to be used may contain the water- soluble salts of the volatile acids of the copper, rare-earth metal, and alkaline- earth metal in the same stoichiometric composition as the desired composite metal oxide with respect to the metals. As for the mechanism of this production, the three kinds of metals are combined into a complex by the polybasic acid, the glycol is integrated with the complex to form a kind of a compound material, and the oxide is considered to be deposited from the compound material by the pressurization. |
