PURPOSE:To produce a high purity and high density AlN sintered body having superior heat conductivity, superior insulating property and a high dielectric constant by mixing alumina powder with carbon (compd.) and a specified compd., molding the mixture and heating the resulting ceramic molded body in an atmosphere contg. nitrogen. CONSTITUTION:Alumina powder (A) having >=99.0% purity and <=2mum average particle size is mixed with carbon or a carbon compd. (B) which generates free carbon on being heated, e.g., phenol resin in 1:0.2-1:1 weight ratio. A compd. (C) of a group IIa element of the periodic table having <=2mum particle size, e.g., CaO is added to the powdery mixture by 0.1-50pts.wt. (expressed in terms of the oxide of the group IIa element) per 100pts.wt. component A and they are mixed and molded. The resulting ceramic molded body is heated to 1,600-2,200 deg.C in an atmosphere contg. nitrogen. |
