PURPOSE: To extend the recording time of a speech section by detecting continuous silent signals in a speech digital signal, converting the silent signals into a counting signal with contents corresponding to the number of the silent signals, compressing a voice digital signal based upon the counting signal, and storing the obtained compressed digital signal. CONSTITUTION: Silent signals are extracted from a digital signal converted from a speech analog signal by an A/D conversion means 1 and converted into a counting signal corresponding to the number of silent signals and a compressing means 3 genereates a compressed digital signal by the use of a digital signal excluding the silent signals and the counting signal. The compressed digital signal generated by the means 3 is stored in a storage means 5, the counting signal included in the compressed digital signal is detected and extensively converted into the prescribed number of silent signals determined by the contents of the counting signal and the voice digital signal is reproduced by an extending means 4 by the use of the compressed digital signal excluding the counting signal and the silent signals. Consequently the recording time of a speech section can be extended. |
