DEODORIZING METHOD WITH OZONE

PURPOSE:To increase the efficiency of deodorization of gas contg. malodorous components and the efficiency of decomposition of unreacted O3 by dehumidifying the gas introducing O3 into the gas and removing the malodorous components by catalytic oxidation decomposition. CONSTITUTION:Gas contg. malodorous components is dehumidified to <=60% relative humidity and O3 is introduced into the gas in 1-10 molar ratio to the malodorous components. The gas is then brought into contact with a catalyst such as TiO2-SiO2-MnO2 at 0-300 deg.C to remove the malodorous components such as methylmercaptan by oxidative decomposition and to also remove the unreacted O3 by decomposition. The efficiency of deodorization of the gas and the efficiency of decomposition of the unreacted O3 are increased by the previous dehumidification.
