Known tyres for passenger cars have contact with the ground over the complete surface of the tread even at high travel speeds and have a correspondingly high rolling resistance; this is a disadvantage when travelling straight ahead at high speed. The object of the invention is to provide a tyre which is more flexible in this respect. To this end, according to the invention the tyre is provided in the apex area with a loading which at a relatively high speed of revolution reduces the contact surface of the tyre by outward deformation in the apex area.
