In a process for the production of printing plates in which a screen film corresponding to the print pattern or the respective colour separation is copied onto the printing plate with a photosensitive coating, tonal value or colour value deviations in the copying operation and in the subsequent printing operation are compensated by masking the printing plate with a half-tone negative copy of the screen film during exposure.
