In the manufacture by hot isostatic pressing of components such as housings for drive mechanism and turbine blades. The areas (b) of the component with thin wall thicknesses are formed by fixedly joining together (partially or over the whole area) adjacent wall surfaces of at least two mould shells (1, 2), whilst the other areas (a) of the component with thicker wall thicknesses or comparatively large wall volumes consist of hollow spaces (8), filled with compressed powder, of the shell mould (5). The hollow spaces 8 may be produced by superimposing the shells, joining eg by welding the adjacent surfaces b along the edges of one area so as to be gas-tight and undetachable and inflating by blowing in compressed gas through inflating tubes 4. <IMAGE>
