The invention is based on the object of providing a device which allows small and large articles to be held securely in vehicles, the intention being for articles of quite different external dimensions to be retainable as quickly as possible. This object is achieved in that the device has at least one base plate, in that there are arranged in the base plate a plurality of holding-element receivers into which upwardly projecting holding elements can selectively be engaged.
