PURPOSE: To obtain a highly sensitive stable reagent by covalently binding an immune species to polymer particles synthesized from a monomer containing a 2-substituted ethyl sulfonyl or vinyl sulfonyl group. CONSTITUTION: A polymer latex is prepared by causing a reaction among a solution containing styrene, m,p-(2-chloroethyl sulfonyl methyl) styrene, and 1-dodecanoic thiol, an ammonium peroxodisulfate solution, and a sodium pyrosulfite solution. The dialyzed polymer latex is made to react to a tritiumlabeledγ-globulin protein. Therefore, a highly sensitive safe reagent can be obtained without requiring any activating process nor reagent.
