摘要 PURPOSE: To conduct tests in a state where an acceleration sensor is incorporated without applying any external inertial force by making a spring element deflectable and a traveling contact closable regardless of external acceleration by means of an electromagnet device at the dead position of the acceleration sensor. CONSTITUTION: When an inertial force acts on the earthquake mass 21 of an acceleration sensor 10, a spring element 16 closes both contacts 28 and 30 against the force of a returning spring 25 after a prescribed limit acceleration value is exceeded. As a result, safety devices respectively connected to terminal pins 32 and 33 are started. In addition, the sensor 10 can be tested without applying any external inertial force before or after the sensor 10 is incorporated in an automobile. Namely, when a sufficiently large current flows to a coil 14, the line of magnetic force of the magnetic field generated by the current passes through a yoke 11, an oscillating armature 18, and a magnetic core 12. When the force of the magnetic field becomes stronger than that of the spring 25, the armature 18 is attracted to the core 12 until the contacts 28 and 30 are closed. Therefore, the function of the sensor 10 can be tested continuously. When the current to the coil 14 is cut off, the element 16 is returned to its initial position by the force of the spring 25.
