PURPOSE:To efficiently convert the size of a character and to well keep the quality of the character even when the size of the character is made considerably large, by providing a control means for selectively operating one of a straight line generator and a curve generator based on the degree of the size conversion of an outer frame. CONSTITUTION:Predetermined operation is applied to the coordinates of the outer frame of a standard character pattern to convert the size of the outer frame by a coordinates converting means. When this converted character size exceeds a certain definite size, a control part 11 indicates the stop of the operation of a straight line generator 13 to change over operational indication to a curve generator 19 and generates the data of the curve connecting the coordinates obtained by the conversion due to the curve generator 19 and writes the same in a memory 14 to obtain a beautiful character pattern having no angular part. When the character size is the certain definite size or less, operational order is given to the straight line generator 13 to generate the data of the straight line connecting two points of the coordinates obtained by the conversion due to the straight line generator 13 and said data is written in the memory 14 to rapidly obtain a character pattern. |
