The traction device has self-locking radial thrust arms (3) which are pushed outward to lock in the inner wall of the pipe, and can be remotely controlled to proceed either forward or backward. Movement is generated by alternate radial extension and retraction of the arms (3), which act against the walls of the pipe. The arms are activated hydraulically or pneumatically, and movement controlled by an electrical, pneumatic, or hydraulic logic controller. Precise positioning is obtained by slow speed rotation of an electric actuator controlling air or hydraulic supply. USE/ADVANTAGE - Mole for transport of cleaning and maintenance equipment in, for example, water, gas or sewer pipes. Good adherence under heavy traction, high torque resistance, in insensitive to condition of interior of pipe.
