A mechanical nail driving tool has a mechanical hammer (10) and a magazine (7) to hold the nails which leads into a shaft (9). The shaft (9) feeds into a nail guide comprising two pincer-like clamps (18,19) profiled to the shaft (9), suspended at their upper ends and projecting down into a sleeve (14). The shaft (9) at its lower end tapers in a cone shape that is long enough to accommodate the smallest nails to be driven, and whose diam. at its mouth is less than that of the thinnest nail to be driven. USE/ADVANTAGE - This tool will drive even short nails into either soft materials such as wood, or hard materials like concrete without deformation.
