ON the inside of the headband a pulse detector is constituted by a light source (e.g. LED) on one branch and a photodetector on the other branch of a fork fitted over the top of an ear. Electrical impulses produced in response to the pulsation of blood conveyed by wire to a monitoring circuit. (3). An audible signal is emitted by a transducer whenever the pulse rate varies outside a preset range (e.g. 100 to 160 beats per minute). The headband ensures uninterupted contact between the electronic components and gth ear. USE/ADVANTAGE - For participants in athletic sports. Device is worn comfortably where headband overlaps lobe of ear. Its operation is not perturbed by interference through intermittent contact. |
