PURPOSE:To contrive improvement in characteristics of a superconducting material, by preliminarily calcining a mixture of respective one or more specific group IIa and IIIa element based compounds with a Cu-containing compound within a specific temperature range and normally sintering the resultant preliminarily calcined mixture. CONSTITUTION:An organometallic compound containing one or more elements selected from group IIa elements Mg, Ca, Sr and Ba is mixed with an organometallic compound of one or more elements of group IIIa elements Sc, Y and lanthanoids and an organometallic compound containing Cu to form a mixture thereof. The resultant mixture is then preliminarily calcined within a temperature range of 200-500 deg.C and then normally sintered at about 800-1,000 deg.C. In the process, since the thermal decomposition temperature of the organic compounds is about 150-300 deg.C, the organic compounds are completely thermally decomposed by preliminary calcining. Thereby, since an influence of carbides is removed, characteristics including the transition temperature and critical current density of the resultant superconducting material are improved. |
