PURPOSE:To contrive enhancement of light fastness of developed color images on a thermal recording paper, an optical recording material or the like, by incorporating a specified benzhydrylindolizine derivative as a substance capable of a color reaction. CONSTITUTION:A benzhydrylindolizine derivative of the formula, wherein each of R<1> and R<2> is an alkyl, phenyl, benzyl or alkylene selected from ethylene, propylene and trimethylene, is incorporated as a substance capable of a color reaction. The benzhydrylindolizine can be obtained by introducing a formyl group into indolizine by, for example, the Vilsmeier reaction to obtain formylindolizine, and subjecting formylindolizine to dehydration condensation with an aniline derivative (reaction path A), and can be obtained also by dehydration condensation of benzhydrol with indolizine (reaction path B). The benzhydrylindolizine derivative forms a blue color upon contact with a color developer (electron-acceptive substance). |
