PURPOSE:To obtain a perfume composition useful as perfume for cosmetics and spices for foods, having fragrance with enhanced natural mildness, containing 3-mercapto-2-methylpropionic acid methyl ester and/or ethyl ester. CONSTITUTION:A perfume composition which is blended with preferably 0.001-10wt.% 3-mercapto-2-methylpropionic ester shown by the formula (R is methyl or ethyl) and is widely useful as a prepared perfume for cosmetics such as soap, detergent, shampoo, aromatic and ordinary cosmetic and for foods, drinks, fruits and tobacco flavor. The compound is readily producible, has a characteristic fruity fragrance of tropical type and addition of a very small amount of the compound to spices for foods or perfume for cosmetics can emphasize the personality, enhance naturalistic properties and improve qualities. |
