PURPOSE:To enhance characteristics, such as sensitivity, resistance to residual potential, and stability against repeated uses by forming a photosensitive layer containing a specified azo compound. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive layer formed on the conductive substrate contains at least one of the azo compounds represented by formulae I in which X is H, cyano, or halogen; R1 is cyano or nitro; R2 is H, halogen, alkyl, or alkoxy; each of R3-R7 is H, alkyl, alkoxy, halogen, cyano, nitro, or trifluoromethyl, at least one of R3-R7 must be an electron-attractive group; and Z is an atomic group necessary to form an aromatic hydrocarbon ring or aromatic hetero ring, thus permitting the obtained photosensitive body to be high in sensitivity, small in residual potential, and unchangeable in characteristics. |
