A device for locking together containers stacked one on top of another has a projecting middle section 4 with bearing surfaces 5, 6 for a first and a second container and integrally with the middle section a first end section with a flange 7 for engagement with the corners of the first container and a second end section for insertion in the corners of the second container. The second end section has a locking head 10, capable of rotating between an engaged position and a disengaged position, with an engaging surface 11, which faces the middle section. The rotation of the locking head is controlled by a handle 9, rotatable between two outer positions, which has a pivot shaft 19 emerging from the middle section. The locking head is preloaded by a spring 29 for turning towards the engaged position. The shaft 19 is in rotation-transmitting engagement with the locking head by way of a projection 25 and a guide track 32. The guide track has a surface 37 for arresting the handle in the disengaged position. The elements that produce the self-locking are situated, well protected, inside the [illegible] device. <IMAGE>
