PURPOSE:To obtain a porous polyester chip having many pores, excelling in mechanical properties and useful as an adsorbent, a carrier for a chemical or the like, and a filter material or the like. CONSTITUTION:This porous polyester chip has many pores part of which communicate with each other. It can be obtained by the following process. An oligoester or a polyester derived from an aromatic dicarboxylic acid or its derivative and a glycol is molded into chips, and these chips are polymerized at a diminished or elevated pressure and a temperature of about 150-250 deg.C in a heating medium while an inert gas is being blown into the system. It is desirable that the polymer be treated with an alkali after polymerization. The obtained chips have many pores of a diameter of about 0.01-10mum, part of which are communicate with each other. |
