PURPOSE:To attain an improved plasma controllability and to eliminate a structural weakens, by submerginly placing a main part of a device installed with a coil system and blankets in liquidized nitrogen added with a neutron absorbing material and filled in a pool, and thereby to make disassembling and fixing of the device much easier, by making its structure more simpler. CONSTITUTION:A coil system consisting of a toroidal coil 2, poloidal coil 3, a diverter coil 4 and a current transformer 6 is constituted of superconductive coils cooled by liquidized nitrogen. Materials constituting the superconductive coil cooled by liquidized nitrogen are YBa2Cu3Ox (x is 6 or 7) and others, for example. And a main part of the device consisting of a vacuum vessel 1, the coil system and a blanket 9 is submergingly placed in the liquidized nitrogen added with a neutron absorbing material (Boron and so on, for instance). Thereby, a simpler structure eliminating a neutron shield, a thermal shield, a cryostat and others is attained and a controllability of a plasma is much more improved, because of shorter distance between the coils and the plasma. |
