PURPOSE:To prevent contamination of reduction water and to enable continuous reduction of sulfate by reducing an aq. soln. contg. sulfate with sulfuric acid reduction bacteria which use methanol as an energy source and producing hydrogen sulfide. CONSTITUTION:For example, in the case of removing heavy metal contained in waste water in a mine, sulfuric acid reduction bacteria which are bred while using methanol as an energy source are cultured in a reduction tank 1 and it is confirmed that the bacteria have been propagated at a constant concn. or more. A high molecular flocculating agent for enhancing settling properties of sulfate and produced metallic sulfide is continuously fed and furthermore sulfuric acid reduction bacteria, metallic sulfide produced by culture of initial reduction bacterial and the implantation carrier of reduction bacteria previously added into the reduction tank 1 are sufficiently mixed together by an agitating 2 and the mixture is overflowed from the reduction tank 1 as reduction water 5. Produced hydrogen sulfide is discharged through a discharge port 6. |
