A skid simulator comprises essentially a support (5) provided with means for mounting in at least one fixed position centred on the axis of a wheel of a vehicle, and a small wheel (6) rotatably mounted at one end of a fork (26) which in turn is mounted by a pivot (27) at its other end so as to pivot freely about a radius of said support, said fork (26) being inclined at an angle to said radius.
