NEW MATERIAL:A compd. of formula I and/or II (wherein Q is a group of non-metallic atoms necessary for completion of a chromophoric system; Z is a group of non-metallic atoms necessary for formation of a nitrogenous heterocyclic ring; R2 is bonded to C of the nitrogenous heterocyclic ring; n is 0-2; and R1-2 are each H or a substituent, provided that at least one selected from R1 groups and at least one of R2 groups is an electron-attracting group). EXAMPLE:A compd. of formula III. USE:Pyrazoloazole colorants useful as dyes for colored image formation adapted to image media for thermal transfer, ink jet, printing, etc., dyes for filters, colorants for photography, antihalation dyes, dyes for fabrics, etc. PREPARATION:A coupler of formula IV-V (wherein R3-4 are each R2; Y is H or a substituent; and X is H or a group eliminable by a reaction with an oxide of a developing agent) or the like is coupled with a phenylenediamine developing agent of formula VI [wherein R11-12 are each H or (substd.)alkyl, provided that R11 may be bonded to R12 to form a 5-6-membered ring; R13 is halogen, (substd.)alkyl, or (substd.)alkoxyl; and r is 0-4] through oxidation in the presence of an oxidizing agent. |
