DNA with genetic information of sarcosine oxidase

A polydeoxyribonucleic acid which has a base sequence which codes for an amino-acid sequence of a polypeptide which represents a component of a sarcosine oxidase is described. This sarcosine oxidase is an enzyme with the following physicochemical properties: (a) effect: catalyses an enzymatic reaction in which, in each case, 1 mole of glycine, formaldehyde and hydrogen peroxide is formed from, in each case, 1 mole of sarcosine, oxygen and water according to the following reaction scheme sarcosine + O2 + H2O <- glycine + formaldehyde + H2O2; (b) substrate specificity: shows a substrate specificity for sarcosine; (c) optimal pH: 8.0 to 9.5; (d) isoelectric point: 4.7 +/- 0.1; (e) molecular weight (determined by the gel filtration method): 40000 +/- 4000; (f) thermal stability: stable after treatment at 40@C for 10 minutes. Sarcosine oxidase makes possible a biological method for the quantitative analysis of a creatinine and/or creatine and is of importance both in laboratory experiments and in clinical diagnostic methods.
