Apparatus (10) for the self-operated cutting of hair to different desired hair lengths, having a casing (11) having an intake pipe (12) and an exhaust pipe (13). In the casing (11) there is fastened a cutter (14). A longitudinal adjustment system (17, 18, 19) is assigned to the intake pipe (12) and can be used to set the hair length which is desired in each case.
