1. An outside handle for a motor vehicle door, comprising a base portion (1) which is fixed to the outward side of the door and an actuating flap (2) which is pivoted to said base portion about a rotational spindle (6) so as to oscillate freely about the spindle (6) without actuating a lever (3) for controlling opening of the door, between a rest position "a" in which it is flush with the outward face of the base portion and closes off the opening in the base portion, and a position "b" of starting manuel actuation, which is inclined towards the interior of the door, and comprising means for actuating said control lever (3) from said "b" position of starting manual actuation, characterised in that it comprises an electrical switch (9) operated by the flap (2) between the rest position "a" and the position of starting manual actuation thereof.
