A metronome with a time-generating (time-keeping) pendulum which is driven by a clockwork spring has a spring housing which encloses the clockwork spring and which has a circular cylindrical circumferential wall which is inherently closed. Ribs project radially inwards from the circumferential wall and maintain the clockwork spring in a circular shape. Arranged at a distance from the inside of the circumferential wall are suspension elements for the outer spring end, which are integrally joined to the spring housing and project radially inwards equally as far as the ribs and maintain the clockwork spring in a circular shape just as the ribs do. A cover of the spring housing bears with its outer rim against the inside of the circumferential wall, and is latched in recesses in the base of the spring housing by means of projecting feet which engage between the ribs.
