In the filter device for filtering out readily volatile impurities from an airstream, the filter material is accommodated in a commercial container (10) which is approved for the storage and transport of the impurities to be removed, into which container an air inlet lance (16) and an air outlet lance (17) are exchangeably introduced through subsequently provided orifices (14, 15). After saturation of the filter material (30), the lances (16, 17) are removed from the container (10), the orifices (14, 15) are sealed and the tightly sealed container is supplied to a disposal facility or regeneration station. A cheap filter device results, the filter containers of which can also be used as disposable filter containers. <IMAGE>
