A toothed rack (1) for mining machines in underground mining consists of individual rack sections (2; 3), which are pivotally secured to the lateral wall of the face conveyor or of the corresponding structures. The tooth pitch of the toothed rack (1) is ensured, even in the transition region between individual sections (2; 3), by a connecting piece (10), which has the form of a dog-leg, projections (14) being associated with the upper part and with the lower part, which projections fit into corresponding recesses (8, 9) of the toothed rack (1). Laterally extending from the projections (14) in the region of the upper part, teeth (15; 16) are provided, with the result that the force transmission lines or centre-lines of the teeth (15; 16) and of the entire connecting piece (10) are brought to a small distance apart. A favourable force transmission is thereby assured. <IMAGE>
