A protective switching device for electrical appliances, in particular household appliances, has at least two current-carrying leads (L1', L2') and a spring-loaded switch (6) which can be switched off by a remote-controlled trip element (9). A single electrode (7) lodged in the housing (2) of the electrical appliance is normally electrically insulated from the current-carrying parts inside the appliance (1). In the event of a fault, the current in said parts flows through the electrode (7). An electric lead (S) connects the electrode (7) directly to one of the current-carrying leads (L1', L2') via the trip element (9). |
