PURPOSE:To obtain desired colors by the voltages impressed to electrodes without executing pattern matching by using two sets of color deflecting elements which consists of different combinations of two sheets of the same colors and are in a complementary color relation over the entire surface of respective liquid crystal layers. CONSTITUTION:A uniaxially stretched PVA film is stuck onto one glass substrate 11 of a color liquid crystal display device and a 1st layer of the color deflecting element (cyan) 19 is formed over the entire surface of the film. A 2nd layer of the color deflecting element 20 (red) is formed on the film stuck onto the element 19. The 1st layer of the color deflecting element 22 (magenta) and the 2nd layer of the color deflecting element 23 (green 9) are further formed on the uniaxially stretched PVa film on a glass substrate 162. Transparent electrodes 211, 241 are respectively formed on the elements 20, 23 and a liquid crystal molecule oriented film 251 is formed thereon. Liquid crystal molecule oriented films 252 are formed respectively via the transparent electrodes 211, 241 on the elements 20, 23. A liquid crystal molecule oriented film 242 is formed via the transparent electrode 212 on the glass substrate 161 facing the substrate 11 and a liquid crystal molecule oriented film 252 is formed via the transparent electrode 242 on the opposite surface of the substrate 11. |
