[Class 83 (iii)] [Also in Group XXIII] A device for locating two members in predetermined angular or rectilinear position relative to one another, e.g. for locating a turret 5 for lathes, milling machines, and slotting machines on a fixed support 1, comprises a spring-pressed finger 21 slidable in a housing 22 in one of the members, e.g. in the turret 5, the finger having at its free end an inclined face 26 sliding on the inclined face of a projection, or one of a number of projections 28, provided in the other member, when the members are moved towards each other, and the open end of the housing 22 forming a recess 30 in which the free end of the projection can enter so as to be wedged between the finger and the edge of the recess when the members are in contact. The angular position of the turret is determined by a spring-pressed pin 16 engaging an axial notch in the support. The latter has spaced conical bearing surfaces 2, 3 separated by a cylindrical portion 4 engaged by corresponding surfaces on the turret. The turret is moved towards or away from the support by means of a threaded sleeve 8, rotatable by a handle 10, engaging a screwed extension of the support. |
