PURPOSE:To enhance abrasion resistance of a carrier, its adhesiveness to a core material, and its nonadhesiveness to a toner by coating the core with a cross-linked polymer obtained by allowing a styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer to react with a diol. CONSTITUTION:The carrier core material, such as ferrite, is coated with the 3-dimensionally cross-linked polymer obtained by allowing the styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer to esterify react with the diol represented by the formula in which R is 2-4C alkylene and each of (x) and (y) is a positive integer. When needed, an organic dye or pigment, a fine inorganic powder, or the like may be added to said coating layer, thus permitting the coating film to be strong and good in adhesion to the core material, and accordingly, not to tend to peel, and not to tend to adhere to the toner, and consequently, the carrier superior in triboelectrifiability to be obtained. |
