The fibre (18) issuing from a reel (12) passes into an untwisting system (26) and then into a degreasing oven (24) and enters a tank (30) containing a liquid (32), before being wound onto a receiver reel (38). A pump (50) makes it possible to suck up the liquid contained in the tank and to deliver it by means of a nozzle (48) onto the fibre at a point located within the tank. The pressure exerted by the liquid discharged in this way causes the separation of the filaments (58) forming the fibre (18), and the fibre wound onto the reel (38) is one which has been spread correctly.
