PURPOSE: To obtain the subject compact steel cord in which three kinds of steel filaments having individually specific diameters are arranged in a specific state and can avoid the core migration with its high cross section mechanical breaking load without loss of the resistance to fatigue. CONSTITUTION: Three twisted steel filaments 1 with a diameter d1 are used as the core bundle, the nine steel filaments of three steel filaments 2 with a diameter of d2 and six steel filaments 3 with a diameter d3 are twisted around the core bundle in the same twisting direction and twisting pitch as those of the core bundle. The steel filaments 2 contact with two adjacent steel filaments 1. The steel filaments 3 contact with one steel filament 1 and one steel filament 2 where 1.05<d2 /d1 <1.16 and -0.205+0.814×d2 /d1 <d3 /d1 <-0.105+0.814×d2 /d1 .
