PURPOSE: To produce viscose filaments having a small decitex, a multi-limbed cross-sectional shape and a constant length-to-width dimensional ratio of the limbs, excellent in bulkiness and absorbency and useful for absorbent products such as towels or swabs. CONSTITUTION: The viscose filaments have <=5.0 (preferably 0.5-5.0) decitex and a multi-limbed cross-sectional shape in at least 2:1 [preferably (2:1) to (10:1)] dimensional ratio of the length-to-width of the limbs. Furthermore, the objective filaments preferably have a cross-sectional shape which is symmetrical about at least one axis such as substantially Y-shaped, X-shaped, H-shaped or T-shaped cross section. The objective filaments preferably have a shape of staple fibers and are further preferably prepared from a modified viscose composition (preferably polyethylene glycol added thereto). |
