PURPOSE:To locate accurately a slab to be ground for a short time by providing a slab carrier disposed between transfer rollers, a carrier drive mechanism and a mechanism for adjusting a position of slab on the transfer rollers. CONSTITUTION:A ground slab support device 3 is constituted from a slab carrier 31, a carrier drive mechanism 32 and a slab position adjusting mechanism 33. The slab carrier 31 is disposed between transfer rollers 2 to support a slab 1 so that the slab 1 can be delivered between the slab carrier 31 and the transfer roller 2. The carrier drive mechanism 32 receives and moves vertically the slab carrier 31 to the slab plane, and travels widthwise forward and backward. The slab position adjusting mechanism 33 is mounted on a machine frame provided independently from the slab carrier 31 to adjust the widthwise position of slab 1 on the transfer roller 2. The slab 1 is located and supported by a support device 3 to repair flaws on the surface of slab 1 by a conventional traveling type grinding machine 4. |
