PURPOSE: To obtain the subject fabric not giving a sticky, clingy, cold touch, etc., and suitable as a cloth for underwear by preparing a fabric comprising a front surface layer formed from flat cross-sectional fibers each having a specific flatness and a back surface layer formed from modified cross-sectional fibers and then subjecting the fabric to a hydrophilization treatment. CONSTITUTION: This unevenly water-absorbing fabric is obtained by preparing a fabric having a double-layered structure, such as a double knitted fabric or a double woven fabric, comprising a front surface fiber layer formed from flat cross-sectional synthetic fibers (e.g. polyamide fibers or polyacrylic fibers) each having one or more projections on the outer periphery of the fiber cross section and a flatness of equation I in a value of 1.5-5 and a back surface fiber layer formed from modified cross-sectional synthetic fibers each having a modified cross section degree of equation II [R is the circumscribed circle diameter of the fiber cross section; (r) is the inscribed circle diameter of the fiber cross section] in a value of <=30%, and subsequently treating the fabric with a treating liquid containing a hydrophilization agent (e.g. an aromatic polyester-polyether block copolymer), for example, by a suction method. |
