The invention relates to a practical device making it possible to improve night vision and the perception of oncoming traffic. The invention consists of an arrangement of the profile of the sun visor, converting it into a headlamp visor in heavy night traffic. It involves an arrangement of the lower shape of the sun visor, then comprising a low point on the left and joining the normal lower profile by a flap of variable inclination, which covers the vanishing point of the centre line of the road. The optical law of contrasts thus allows the direct light source (thus masked as in an astronomical coronagraph) to signal the position of the vehicle to be seen whilst illuminating the road which is to be followed. The device according to the invention is particularly intended for motor vehicles but can also be adapted to cycles and motorcycles.
