The invention relates to a manufacturing method for producing a protective surface, and to the said protective surface obtained according to the method. The protective surface consists of a form of generally quadrangular shape made from suitable material obtained by cutting out from a sheet of a film made from flexible material, the said sheet including at one end 9 a plurality of concertina folds which are secured together, whilst the second end 10 includes a T-shaped incision, the bar 13 of the T defining, relative to the corresponding parallel marginal edge 10, a loop capable of permitting holding of the surface behind the neck of the individual, the central web of the T following a median axis of the said form in order to permit the insertion of the surface, around the neck. The bar of the T may be perforated in its middle, thus forming two separate ties. Application to protective surfaces such as bibs. <IMAGE>
