A flat gasket, for a cylinder-head for internal combustion engines and compressors, comprises, to reduce the mechanical distortions in the assembled state of the gasket and to avoid damage to the gasket, at least one separate additional part (7 or 8) provided at critical points of the sealing surface of the support (2) in the region outside the border (6), which additional part is fixed to the support (2). These additional parts (7 or 8) may be provided at endangered, previously ascertained points, so that increased compression occurs at this point, however without the dynamic shearing forces occurring leading to damage of the gasket material. <IMAGE>
