The invention relates to a novel process for the preparation of N-(alkoxycarbonylphenylsulphonyl)iminodithiocarbonic diesters of the general formula (I) <IMAGE> in which R<1> represents optionally substituted alkyl and R<2> represents optionally substituted alkyl or optionally substituted benzyl, characterised in that alkoxycarbonylbenzenesulphonyl halides of the general formula (II) <IMAGE> in which R<1> has the abovementioned meaning and X represents halogen, are reacted with iminodithiocarbonic diesters of the general formula (III) <IMAGE> in which R<2> has the abovementioned meaning, or with their hydrochlorides in the presence of an acid acceptor and in the presence of a diluent at temperatures between -20@C and +50@C.
