A hinged lid (1) is mounted on a hinge (2) so as to be pivotable in the direction of a bearing surface (5) or away from it for the purpose of pressing an original (4, 12) against the bearing surface (5) and has on its inner lid side (7) facing the bearing surface (5) a pressure cushion (8). In the case of this hinged lid, it is to be made possible to press on the original (4, 12) evenly and largely independently of the thickness of the respective original. For this purpose, cavities (9, 10, 11) for receiving material of the pressure cushion (8) which is displaced due to the pressure load, are formed in the region of the pressure cushion (8) close to the hinge. The novel hinged lid is used in particular in optical original-scanning devices, such as copiers. <IMAGE>
